I began my editorial career as a business reporter and have retained my interest in money management and the markets. For a year, l lived in Taiwan and covered the economic development of the country for local publications and The Far Eastern Economic Review, a weekly published in Hong Kong. After a year in East Asia, I moved to Buenos Aires and wrote about the country's meat and grain production and exports for Knight-Ridder. This led to an offer by the company to cover commodity futures in Chicago at the Board of Trade. My dozen years at the exchange led to the composition of The Fibonacci Deception, my novel about trading futures.
